OUR BAG & ACCESSORY PRODUCTION - MEET THE TEAM
We believe in handmade, individual products. Thus, all embroidery, woven materials, prints and dip-dyed fabrics are handmade, making every piece that little bit different and unique. The cuts, patterns and designs are developed in our office in Berlin and are subsequently brought to life by our two wonderful teams working in family-run businesses in India. Without the personal and loving collaboration with these teams, the implementation of our collections would be impossible. We would like to thank them and also to introduce you to the individuals from our team.
This is Beena, who has worked for our bags & accessoires factory for 16 years and is now one of our Sampling Tailors. Many of the initial mara mea products are made by Beena. She is married to Chandan, who helps in the factory kitchen and makes the best tea! Beena particularly likes the mara mea carpet materials and always compliments them!
Meet Lata! Having worked for our bags & accessories supplier for more than 23 years, Lata is the Head of Quality Control, ensuring that all mara mea products have been made to the highest of standards before they can be packed. Married with a child, Lata loves our mara mea Classic Diaper Bags and thinks that she could easily fit a week's worth of vegetables inside! The waterproof lining, she says, also makes the bag perfect for this purpose!
Ram has been making all mara mea patterns from day 1! Having worked in the factory for 18 years, Ram is the Head Pattern Maker and responsible for the drawing of patterns based on our designs and measurements. Married with 2 daughters, Ram absolutely loves the detailed technical sheets that Dorina and Maren produce. He wishes that all designers would make technical sheets as detailed as mara mea!
Shikha checks all of our samples and new products, and also packs items ready to leave the factory. Married to a pressman who also works here, Shikha has 2 children. She especially likes our childrens schoolbags and all of special details that go into the design and manufacture of each mara mea product.
Meet Ganesh! He is truly a master at simply looking at a paper drawing and interpreting it in fabric and thread. All that may appear strange and difficult, and needs to be made by hand, is produced by Ganesh. It is Ganesh who makes our cot mobiles and measurement scales. Both he and his brother have been working in the factory for 23 years and are among some of the first workers of the factory. Ganesh loves the little stuffed toys that appear in every mara mea collection.
Meet Washim, the head embroiderer! This man is a genius at what he does. Responsible for embroidery patterns, initial swatches, thread selection, stitching techniques, all of these things are personally selected and made by Washim. Having worked at here for 8 years, Washim is married with children, and what he likes most about mara mea are the colours and combinations that we use.
