Breastfeeding on the go – A short guide

There are so many reasons why breastfeeding is the best thing of all. It's not just the physical closeness between mother and baby that is incredibly important. The nutrients, vitamins, and antibodies in breast milk provide everything your baby needs for a good start in life. And no matter where you are, your food will always be at the right temperature. That means you don't need much more than a small diaper bag , even for longer shopping trips or restaurant visits. How uncomplicated that is. If it weren't for the fear of breastfeeding in public, which unfortunately still lingers in the minds of many mothers. Completely unfounded, in our opinion, because breastfeeding is the most natural thing in the world and no mother should feel uncomfortable doing it. Here are a few little tips and tricks to make breastfeeding really comfortable for you and your little one, even when you're out and about.

Good places to breastfeed

Special breastfeeding rooms in shopping malls, stores, or cafés offer the perfect retreat for mom and baby. Here, you won't be disturbed by prying eyes or loud noises, and you usually have a changing table available. Unfortunately, these rooms aren't available everywhere, and you often have to find a good spot yourself. If your baby is easily distracted by movement and noise, it's best to look for a quiet park bench or find a cozy corner in a café.

Nursing scarves are also a great way to create a safe place for your baby to drink, even in the busiest of crowds. They're guaranteed to shield them from view, which makes you feel more comfortable, too. In spring and summer, a light jacket is a good alternative to a nursing scarf. And if you don't have either of these accessories handy, simply drape a muslin diaper over your shoulder and chest. So don't run off to the bathroom or head straight home the next time your baby has a hunger pang. Enjoy the flexibility that breastfeeding brings. It will never be this easy again.

The perfect nursing clothes

The right clothing makes breastfeeding discreet anywhere. A nursing bra makes breastfeeding much easier, as it simply folds down and exposes only the part of the breast where the baby is latching on. Blouses with snap fasteners, like our pacha mama blouse , or shirts with sewn-in nursing openings are super practical over them. This way, you don't have to roll up your entire top or laboriously unbutton the blouse; you're ready to breastfeed in a flash. Absolutely no skin shows through, and on colder days, you won't get chilblains if you breastfeed outside. You don't have to go without dresses while breastfeeding either. Take a look at our bananadilla or summer breeze dresses, for example. These not only make you look great with or without a baby bump, but also make everyday life as a breastfeeding mom easier thanks to their sewn-in nursing openings—completely hidden, of course. So now there are no more excuses for the next invitation to a restaurant or summer party...

Stay relaxed

Don't let it get you down if you urgently need to breastfeed while out and about and there's no suitable spot in sight. Your baby's needs come first, and with a nursing scarf and other accessories, you'll be safe from prying eyes. Even if it takes some getting used to at first, the more you're out and about with your baby and breastfeed them in different places, the more natural and relaxed it will become for you. And the more relaxed the mother is, the more relaxed the baby is.
