About intuition, gut feeling and the courage to listen - Nathalie from mom and A half man
Intuition.
A big word. For an even bigger feeling.
But what exactly is intuition? Is it that rumbling in your gut or that quiet whisper before a big decision? I think intuition can be anything. And something different for everyone.
To some, it whispers, others feel it in waves, and for me, it sits in my gut. No matter how it speaks to you, you should listen. Sometimes it's not clear what it wants from us. Sometimes we can't see the destination of the path. But one thing is certain: It tells you the truth. Always.
Whether you're wondering if this new job is really the right one, or unsure if your partner is telling the truth, or your child has different needs than you at this moment and is acting on advice you know won't work for you, we usually already know the answer perfectly well. We just often don't want to listen.
I believe that most of us need to relearn how to listen to our own intuition. We're far too preoccupied with the outside world, with the rules and strict constraints of everyday life. How much does a quiet little voice deserve?
If you hear them, my advice is to quiet down outside. Stop for a moment. That's when we can listen best.
I did that at the beginning of this year . My voice whispered timidly at first, then so loudly that I couldn't ignore it anymore. It whispered to me to leave. From a daily routine that revolves only around the outside world and isn't doing me any good inside.
And so I followed my intuition. To Asia . Completely incomprehensible to most people. There's coronavirus in Asia. Stay in Germany, it's safe here.
Against all reason, I followed my courageous impulse and ended up stranded in Thailand. Admittedly, I felt a bit uneasy. But I was confident that my intuition had led me there for a reason.
A few weeks later, the first cases followed in Germany. At first, there were a few, but then it was soon the only topic of conversation. We were safe in Thailand. There was one case on our island, and the patient quickly recovered. The island was sealed off. We were safe.
We're now in Zanzibar. Here, too, the situation is peaceful. My inner voice has led me here, too. This feeling in my gut. This voice that deserves to be heard. Because it's right. Always.
