8 months on the road with Lotti & the Bugaboo Fox
In this account, Maren recounts her first months with her little daughter, Lotte, and the changes the birth brought with it. Among other things, she talks about moving from the big city of Berlin to the quiet countryside, sleep patterns, and the indispensable role a good stroller plays in her life.
In the summer of 2019, our youngest mara mea team member was born and suddenly turned our entire lives upside down. Of course, you know before a baby is born that things will change – and the anticipation is huge – but when the time finally comes, a completely new beginning awaits you. My daughter Lotti changed practically everything overnight. Not only did I have to reorganize and replan my work life, but also my routines at home. Family and work life now had to be reconciled. So, after the first few months, we decided to move from the big city to the quiet countryside and be with my family. From Berlin to Hesse – a big change. But a great decision to escape the hustle and bustle for a bit and get some fresh air.
The last few months have been full of adventures, wonderful experiences and many challenges that you have to overcome as a new parent.
Falling asleep, for example, was a major challenge. When rocking, carrying, or singing no longer helps, you quickly become confused and overwhelmed. We quickly discovered that Lotti falls asleep particularly well in the stroller. The movement and fresh air seem to work wonders. So we regularly put her in the Bugaboo Fox and just go for a walk. Last summer, we covered many kilometers in the city and in the countryside and enjoyed many wonderful moments.
Life in Berlin:
In the first three weeks after the birth, we only took short walks around Friedrichshain. With temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius and strong sunlight, you naturally have to be very cautious.
The Bugaboo Fox is made from recycled PET bottles and features a Peek-a-Boo window for optimal ventilation and communication with your child.
During the summer, Lotti always lay in the open carrycot, which features a soft jersey cover. If she doesn't fall asleep immediately, she curiously explores her surroundings and enjoys the ride. The canopy protects the little ones from too many outside impressions while still providing a ventilation window to allow fresh air to circulate. Especially during this time in the big city, it was important to me not to overwhelm Lotti with all the sensory impressions and to allow her to rest.
Walks became our daily ritual, and a well-equipped stroller is essential. We enjoyed many excursions through Berlin's neighborhoods and the surrounding area and visited some of our family.
One day, for example, we went to Lotti's grandma's allotment garden and it was there that the stroller really stood out due to its maneuverability.
The Bugaboo has been with us for several months now, and we wouldn't want to be without it. I use it every day, and I can't imagine my shopping without it. It's easy to push even through narrow paths, shops, and train tracks.
In Berlin, we lived on the third floor, so a lightweight and portable stroller was essential. There, I packed my shopping in my multifunctionaldiaper bag and placed it in the stroller's shell at the bottom. This made it easy to carry the stroller, including its contents and baby seat, upstairs.
The quiet life in the countryside:
Since we moved to the countryside in December, the Fox has been used "off-road." Lotti goes for walks with her dad every morning. The routes lead through fields, forest paths, and into nature. In the morning, the Bugaboo is usually quickly packed into the car and driven to the edge of the forest. From there, the little journey begins.
The walks are always varied and beautiful, but since Lotti falls asleep in the stroller so often, she probably slept through 95% of the outings. This included the one for which her dad drove an extra 1.5 hours to a place where there was snow so she could see it for once...
Lotti is quite tall for her age, by the way. Fortunately, thanks to the spacious carrycot, we were able to wait to switch to a carrycot until she could sit upright. Now that she can do that, we're using the practical sports seat instead of the previous reclining area. This provides her with the ideal position to explore her surroundings and her new home.
Crazy how time flies! We've tested the Fox extensively and are thrilled with the stroller's functionality and design. It will continue to be a faithful companion in our everyday lives for the next few months.
The beautiful color of the track collection goes particularly well with our new favorite SS20 accessories. Pictured here, for example, is the gorgeous stroller chain with a little elephant and colorful tassels *rumbles & bellows*, which Lotti clearly loved.
The practical stroller organizer is also attached here, in which drinking bottles and other essentials can be easily stored in a space-saving and, above all, attractive manner.
